Connecting Backpack

Backpack uses an API-key model. You generate a key on Backpack, paste it into fxyz, and fxyz signs trades with it from then on.

What you'll see

  1. In fxyz, open Settings and click Connect Backpack (or the Backpack connect card on the trade page).
  2. On Backpack's side, generate a new API key tied to your account.
  3. Paste the key into fxyz and confirm.
  4. fxyz validates the key and stores it encrypted on its side.

The key never touches your browser's storage after the paste — it's encrypted on fxyz's side and your browser forgets it the moment the dialog closes.

Why your funds stay yours

fxyz's own Backpack client deliberately omits withdraw and transfer operations entirely. They are not in the surface that strategies you build (or strategies you fork) can call. No part of the product has a code path that can move funds off your Backpack account — the functions don't exist for it to call.

TIP

For an additional layer, configure Backpack's withdrawal-address whitelist on your account. Any withdrawal off your Backpack account would then be limited to pre-approved addresses you control. This is a Backpack-side feature, set up once in Backpack's UI, and a sensible belt-and-suspenders setup regardless of fxyz.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect Backpack. fxyz drops the encrypted key on its side immediately. For belt-and-suspenders, you can also rotate or delete the key on Backpack's own UI.

Funds stay on the exchange. fxyz can trade, never withdraw.
